This year’s graduation was an extra special event for the Edinburgh Women’s Training Course.

Not only did 16 women graduate, celebrating their personal achievements, but the EWT Course had something to celebrate in its own right: 20 years of success stories and changing lives, since it began in 1986.

Trish Alkhamis, EWTC Project Co-ordinator, commented

"Having worked here for over 12 years, I am especially proud to be here tonight seeing another group of successful women graduate!"

Student Success Story

Linda Lohman first contacted Nisus in the summer of 2005 applying to the FlexIT course in the capacity as carer for her son. After realising that the Edinburgh Women’s Training Course was more suitable for her circumstances, she put in a further application.

Once successfully accepted on the course Linda never looked back. With excellent attendance, she quickly achieved her ECDL and several SQA units. Linda was a popular member of the group and a positive influence on the other trainees supporting and encouraging them along the way. As part of the course, Linda undertook a 10 week work placement with a local employer, receiving excellent feedback .

Since graduating, Linda has successfully secured employment as an administrator, which will allow her to build on and utilise her newly gained skills.

“I am over the moon to have achieved so much and I am really looking forward to my new post. Having done the course and gained recognised qualifications has opened up many new opportunities for me.”
