course 2004 |
Another group of 12 students successfully completed
the Skilltech 12-week programme in December 2004. Every
student that participated in the recent 12-week course
obtained at least one qualification in the use of information
technology, and more than 50% have already secured
employment or a place on a further education course.
Amongst the success stories, one student has obtained
employment with the NHS and another is starting a job
with a private nursery in Edinburgh. Of those now entering
further education, three students have been accepted
on an Access to Multimedia course at Jewel & Esk
Valley College.
Another two students have been accepted
for courses at Telford College in areas as diverse
as business and childcare.
Skilltech Project Co-ordinator, Jackie Moore believes
the success of students attending the Skilltech course
is down to more than just gaining
qualifications.
“Students who participate in the Skilltech
programme achieve more than just computer qualifications.
Skilltech
develops confidence and self-esteem and individuals
feel empowered to make positive changes in their
own lives.”
