Nisus Scotland
is keen to find out your opinion about the need for core Information
Technology skills for staff and volunteers within the Third and
Voluntary Sectors in Scotland.
The need for further IT skills has been linked to current skill
gaps and shortages within these sectors.
In recent research 21%
of Scottish Voluntary Organisations stated they had difficulties
filling jobs because applicants lacked basic computer literacy
and IT skills¹.
The lack of IT proficiency was also rated
as a skill gap in over 50% of administrative staff and in
60% of professional and supervisory staff within the sector¹.
Core skills however, are skills that make a person more effective
in any job, and as an individual in wider society. The Scottish
Executive believes that these include the use of IT².
If
you would like to express your opinion on what actually constitutes
core IT skills for you and your colleagues, please contact
us for a survey form (Tel: 0131 554 5656
- Email: info@nisusscotland.org.uk).
The results of our survey will be used not only to improve the
training services we can offer you, but also to inform policy
groups and funders that work within the Scottish Third and Voluntary
Sectors of the skills you want and need!
To encourage response to our survey, every organisation that
returns a survey will be entered into our December prize draw
and stands to win £250 of free IT training at Nisus. What’s
more, whoever personally fills out a survey could win a luxury
festive hamper just in time for the festive season!
