Graduation for All
This year’s graduation ceremony will be a celebration
of achievement for all trainees from Nisus Scotland’s
FlexIT, Skilltech, EWTC and SummIT courses. Sir Tom Farmer,
a successful Leith born businessman, has agreed to present
the graduation certificates to trainees who have completed
their training with Nisus Scotland.
A long time supporter
and former Nisus Scotland Board member, the Right Honourable
Lesley Hinds, Lord Provost of Edinburgh, will give a
speech. The graduation ceremony will take place on 1 July
at
the City of Edinburgh Council Chambers.
Come Back to School this Summer!
The Summer School is one of two programmes currently offered
through the new Skilltech Project. We are now recruiting
black and minority ethnic people (including refugees and
asylum seekers) to take part in one of four computer training
courses on week beginning Monday 23 August.
The content of the courses will depend on the expressed
needs and interests of interested applicants. These are currently
being collected using the reply slip attached to the enclosed
Skilltech Summer School leaflet. We hope to provide a range
of courses that are suitable for complete beginners to more
advanced learners. Anyone interested in seeking a place on
the Summer School should notify their interest as soon as
possible.
Organisations interested in referring a full group of people
are also welcome providing all candidates meet the necessary
eligibility criteria. For further information on referring
a group of people, please contact Jackie Moore on 0131 554
5656 or send an email

Employment Links and Guidance Worker |
Nisus would like to welcome Fiona Waterston, our new Employment
Links and Guidance Worker. This new position has been created
as part of the Joined Up For Jobs Strategy, in order that
we can aid trainees to address their barriers to employment,
in addition to helping employers deal with recruitment
issues.
The position, initially funded for one year, has already
built successful relationships with over thirty employers
and linked organisations.
Fiona is hoping to provide all
Nisus trainees with the tools needed to access the job
they want, as well as to offer a recruitment service
to help employers fill their vacancies.
If you feel you would
like to use this service or for more information, please
contact Fiona Waterston on 0131 554 5656 or send
an email.
