Grant from North and Leith Development
Committee
North and Leith Development Committee have awarded a
grant worth £4,000 to the new Skilltech project at Nisus
Scotland. The grant will increase the provision of childcare,
travel expenses, employer visits and qualifications to black
and minority ethnic (BME) people. This additional funding will
especially benefit BME residents in North and Leith ward areas
by increasing access to a local computer training project.
The award is a welcome addition to the project’s
existing funding package including European funding and
a grant from
the Community Fund.

FlexIT Submit a Model Application to CLAN
The FlexIT application to the CLAN Challenge Fund was given
a special mention at a funding surgery hosted by CLAN on 13
May at McDonald Road Library.
The event offered support to prospective Challenge Fund Applicants
to enable them to progress their applications as smoothly and
successfully as possible. The event was a huge success with
27 people attending.
The FlexIT application was used as a model of best practice
in a session delivered by Gillian Lawrence, CLAN Training
Officer. In Gillian’s own words
“The NISUS Scotland FlexIT
project submitted an excellent bid in the last round, which
clearly outlined how the literacies learning and support complemented
the IT learning in order to increase participants’ opportunities”.
