Nisus Scotland
held a large scale event for local employers, staff and students
in April, at our premises in Leith. The aim of the event was
to explore the business benefits of hosting a work placement.

The event was organised by Marnie Stewart, herself a secondee
from Marks and Spencer, through Scottish Business in the Community’s “Development
Assignment Programme”.
The objectives of Marnie’s secondment with Nisus were
to build links with local employers, and to increase the number
and type of work placements available to students.
The event attracted over 30 attendees and its success was illustrated
by the employers’ response: five employers agreed to offer
three paid posts, four work placements and four voluntary posts.
Three further employers have indicated an interest in hosting
work placements in the near future.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Marnie for all her
hard work and for surpassing her initial secondment aims. We
would also like to extend a warm thank you to the employers who
attended the event and for agreeing to offer valuable opportunities
for our students.
If you are interested in offering a work placement to a Nisus
trainee contact Fiona
