The new grant will help fund developments in the course with the introduction of hardware and multimedia components. The award will also continue to finance our highly successful Training Trainers programme, piloted last year by the EWT course in conjunction with Edinburgh’s Telford College.

Each year a further 4 trainees from our centre will be able to study for an optional post-course qualification in Further Education Teaching at Telford, whilst gaining practical teaching experience supporting trainers at Nisus Scotland.

Free Training for BME People

A new project called Skilltech is now recruiting black minority ethnic people and refugees for a 12-week course starting on the 14th April. The course provides computer qualifications, personal development skills and help with the English language. This new programme is designed to build confidence and assist with progression to employment or further education.

Full details are given on the enclosed leaflet for the Skilltech 12-Week Course. For an application form or more information, please contact Jackie Moore on 0131 554 5656 or send an email

M&S Secondee Developing Employer Links

For the second year running Nisus has been selected to host a secondee from Marks and Spencer, in conjunction with Scottish Business in the Community.

Nisus welcomes Marnie Stewart, who will be undertaking a 12-week secondment with a focus on strengthening our employer links and developing work placement opportunities for students with a disability or health concern.

Marnie will be researching and contacting local employers to identify potential work placement providers. A key objective is the organisation of a high profile event for employers, to raise awareness of the business benefits in hosting a work placement.

Your organisation could be reaping the benefits of a work placement! Please email Marnie to find out how.
